Empowering the local community in the production and marketing of the products from SGP project 007 (Establishment of a Revolving Fund for Training and Propagating the Native Endangered Species of Plants to Combat Desertification in Sistan & Baluchestan)

In the SGP Project IRA-G52-2001&2002-007 a revolving fund had been established for the group from Dahan CO interested in investing in a nursery of endangered species (Oil Tamarisk) to combat desertification. As a side activity to support the payments for the credits obtained from the revolving fund the women of this group started to produce and market needlework. Now this group of planters are getting loans to grow 10 Oil Tamarisk and 30 other endemic trees in their nurseries (which is then to be transferred into the field) and support the needlework by the women as an income generating activity.
This project is to support the marketing endeavors of the needle workers (which would justify getting a loan to grow Oil Tamarisk and other endemic species) includes the following activities:
1-provision of seed money for the revolving fund
2-training in marketing the needlework (consumer survey, new designs, quality control and packaging)
3-netwroking and presenting the work in exhibitions
4-maintainence of the Revolving Fund by the local group of planters in Dahan CO
