SOGWALA/MADIGANE WETLAND PROTECTION AND BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION PROGRAMME
Sogwala Madigane Wetland protection project is located in Lower Gweru. The purpose of the project is to protect Sogwala Madigane wetlands with the overall goal of improving biodiversity and productivity of the resource. This will be coupled with general conservation works that include fencing the wetland that is approximately 30 hectares, water harvesting and sustainable management systems. The other components include improving draft power through provision of 30 heifers and 1 bull from Heifer International Zimbabwe. Dung from the heifers will be used for feeding 5 biogas digestors.
