NGOs participation in the society awareness raising on POPs (Implementation of information campaign directed on attraction of public attention of the population of Pervomaysky area to POPs issues and involving of the population into the POPs challenges meeting activities)
In Pervomaysky village during certain time interval as a result of human vital functions and activity of the chemical enterprises a set of industrial wastes have accumulated. Some people find POPs and try to profit by sale, but frequently they find substances which it is impossible to sell and, as a rule people not having comprehended consequence, leave them on open air or near to the houses. Also since 1995 extensive development of the agricultural territories have been started with pesticides usage with some POPs characteristics. The negative POPs influence on processes of reproduction and hereditary attributes, and also its ability to cause malignant new growths has proved by the facts from real life. But the situation is that the population of Pervomaysky settlement and inhabitants of neighboring villages and country facilities isn't aware of the POPs influence. There is a strong necessity to conduct information campaign to raise population's awareness about POPs and formation of public ecological consciousness on POPs.
Within the project a research by questioning the population for revealing a level of knowledge about POPs and readiness to participate in the activities to solve the issue will be carried out, a range of actions directed on involving of rural NGOs and CBOs of the area into the environmental activities will be realized, a wide information sharing about POPs will be organized to promote awareness raising of the population about POPs influence on human life, technologies on destruction of dangerous chemicals, including industrial and medical wastes, the out-of-date pesticides, etc. by release of radionewspapers, leaflets, carrying out of trainings for schoolboys and active youth, placement of information in regional mass-media, information work with farmers for prevention of further POPs distribution and its wrong storage will be lead.

Capacity - Building Component
The project will strengthen NGOs' capacity in realizaion of the information campaigns and improve communications with local community, governmental departments and other counterparts. A wide audience will be acknowledged with the POPs issue.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Within the project a number of seminars and round tables will be held, information will be spread out through mass media and by means of leaflets and booklets.
