REVIGORATING THE VALUE OF TRADITIONAL KNOWLEDGE BACK-TO-BACK WITH THE MINDANAO RENEWABLE ENERGY CONFERENCE WORKSHOP/TRAINING
· Traditional Knowledge is precious to indigenous communities and the society because it can be used for the common good. A positive acknowledgement of this knowledge and its contribution to mankind encourages preservation and practice. To ensure that this knowledge is not lost and can be passed on to the next generation, it is important that trainers and communities be given support to do this. · The proposal is seeking support to initiatives towards Traditional Knowledge documentation. The first involves the NGO partners who shall be trained to document these knowledge and one PO partner which shall spearhead the effort towards the preservation of these knowledge.· The project aims to undertake a conference-workshop to gather project implementors and partners in renewable energy to share learning experiences, problems encountered and solution made, and enhance their capability to manage their projects.A proactive project, a framework was formulated for this activity which considered previous/similar activities funded by SGP such as the Conference on Renewable Energy for the Visayas and Mindanao in 2000 and the research/documentation on the State of the Art of Community-based Renewable Energy Projects undertaken by Sibol Ng Agham at Teknolohiya (SIBAT) in 1998.
