ECONET
The project aims to secure a sustainable development of the Bistrita Valley through non-biodegradable waste management, complemented by practical activities designed to protect the ecosystems within this micro-region. Main activities consist of: pilot business plan for tourist pension owners, selective waste collection and compacting of non-biodegradable waste from pensions; involvement of pension owners in reestablishing the integrity of several forest and aquatic ecosystems damaged by non-biodegradable waste deposits in the Bistrita River basin; promotion of ecotourism attractions of the region, i.e. ecotourism routes in the Calimani National Park area, information package.

Notable Community Participation
The communities from the Tara Dornelor micro-region and from the Bistrita River valley (over 7000 inhabitants) are involved in project activities (information campaign, trainings, practical activities for forest and aquatic ecosystem restoration, selective waste collection and recycling etc.)
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
The eco-tourism will be promoted as an alternative income generation activity. The selective waste collection and valorisation of the plastic wastes will also contribute to the increase in local community income.
