Community-based integrated mangrove rehabilitation and economic recovery program in Tsunami effected villages in Pulau Weh, Aceh
Project development Goal:
To provide support for post-tsunami recovery of coastal resources based livelihoods in sustainable manner among communities in Pulau Weh, Aceh
Project Objectives:
1.to promote eco-tourism as alternative source of livelihoods for coastal community
2.coral reef transplantation and community-based reef monitoring
Expected Output:
1.Publication and outreaching package of environmental education materials (such as leaflets, posters, etc)
2.Boat for community based beach patrol and monitoring
3.Rehabilitation of wells and sanitation
4.Reports on coastal resources and coral reefs monitoring
Activities to be conducted:
Note: the rehabilitation activities will be done through co-financing mechanism with other funding agencies. CWC is committed to mobilize fund, possibly from EU-SGP PTF for mangrove ecosystems recovery and livelihoods. GEF-SGP will support part of the activities as stipulated in the expected outputs and activities below. Other objectives such as rehabilitation of mangrove and beef vegetation; provision of boats with legally sourced timber; community-based reef ecosystems rehabilitation through coral transplantation will be done through collaboration of in-kind and in-cash cofinancing mechanism with other donors.

4.Coral reef ecosystem recovery though coral transplantation (cross visit and learning from GEF-SGP supported community in Bali)
Indication of impacts: strengthen community-based recovery efforts; healthy coral growth; income generation; strengthen institutional capacity of local coastal community.
