Documentation of Consolidation Meeting among Customary Coastal Leaders (Panglima Laot) and Communities for Post Tsunami Reconstruction in Aceh
Project development Goal:
Documentation of workshop proceeding and needs assessment for reconstruction of coastal livelihoods in Tsunami affected areas in Aceh.
Project Objectives:
1. To facilitate the process of institutional strengthening among Panglima Laot members as institution and membership based organization among fisherfolks and coastal communities
2. To map the immediate and long term plans for life reconstruction among coastal community in Aceh, especially in Western Coast (Meulaboh) and Simelue.
3. To document the results of the meeting as base line data for reconstruction of coastal community livelihood and assist Panglima Laot in lobbying their needs for life reconstruction with various donors and stakeholders.
Expected output :
1. Complimentary VCD on the documentation of the meeting.
2. 500 Books on base line data of coastal recovery in Aceh based on Panglima Laor and Communities? perspectives.
3. Series of meeting between Panglima Laot and pertinent institutions in coastal recovery.
Activities to be conducted :
I. Facilitation of meeting from preparation and actual meeting. Providing professional services for meeting organization, agenda building, spatial planning at community-based and holistic thinking on recovery of livelihood (19-21 February 2005).
II. Documentation of process and lessons learned.
III. Book printing, including verification with Panglima Lot to ensure legitimate messages and base line data
Project Participants and/or beneficiaries :
1. 515 coastal community representatives of Aceh
2. 119 Panglima Laot
3. 100 guests and invitees from donors and government officials
4. NGO communities, selected
5. 400.000 members of Yayasan Hukom Adat Panglima Lot.
This project is one of GEF-SGP Indonesia support in reconstruction of Aceh post tsunami. The project is a transition activity to set base line that will be needed for actual implementation of life reconstruction in Aceh across sector in coastal resources management and livelihoods. In this project, SALAM is collaborating with other civil society organizations, Institute of Agriculture Bogor (through IP4W) and donors such as the Global Greengrants Foundation, Yayasan Puter, Yayasan Lestari Laut Indonesia, and other funders.
