Building the capacity of coastal community in community-based mangrove management to preserve the sustainability of coastal biodiversities; Kuala Indah village, the district of Asahan, North Sumatera
Project development Goal:
To establish a sustainable community-based mangrove management in the coast of Kuala Indah village

Project Objectives:
1. To improve community's knowledge, concern and control in a sustainable community-based coastal management
2. To enhance the quality of coastal ecosystems, notably that of mangrove forests
3. To foster village regulations that support a sustainable community-based coastal management

Expected Output:
1. Increased coastal community's bargaining power towards businesspersons and the government regarding coastal management
2. Local regulations supporting a sustainable community-based coastal management
3. Reduced coastal degradation, notably that of mangrove forests

Activities to be conducted:
A. Coastal community?s Capacity Building
- Training activities (advocacy, community organizer, mapping)
- Discussion
- Publishing Newsletter
B. Increasing economy capacity and coastal environment quality
- Training activities and revolving fund
- Mangrove conservation
- Developing training center
C. Documenting project implementation process and knowledge management
- Stake holder?s Discussion
- National workshop
- Preparation on National Regulation for coastal communities
D. Monitoring and Evaluation
Monitoring and Evaluation activities will be conducted 2 times during the project implementation period. These activities will be conducted in participatory manner to provide interim opportunities for communities to conduct adaptive management. The activities will be documented as part of accountability measure, verify report and promote share learning among project participants and beneficiaries
