Protecting International Waters by collecting and recycling used water in Nasseria
Women Society of El Nassira (WSN), is the only NGO in the village of El Nassira, Bani Mazar centre, El Menia governorate. The board of the Society is composed of only women although some men are active in some of the Society?s committees. Ever since it was founded in 2001, the WSN has been highly dedicated to community service with a good record of involvements in a variety of community oriented projects. Among the several projects the Society has been involved in are:
? Supplying freshwater and electricity service to some of the village?s houses.
? Providing some of the houses with toilets
? Managing farm houses? problems and managing animal waste
? Cleaner agricultural production
? Forestation
? Arable land Laser leveling.
? Health service campaign, including awareness raising of health issues.
Experience has proven that community based management could be a viable tool to help El Nassria village dwellers managing and treating the large volume of grey water.
This case study document records the process through which WSN took the initiative, and helped, including though awareness raising, implementing a project to treat grey water. The project was designed to ensure treatment of grey water and the disposal of treated effluent in one of the nearby drains.
