Protectiong water from pollution in Assiut
Introduction
Nazlet Kaab is a small village, west of the Nile River near Assuit. The village has no system for any type of wastewater treatment. Grey water is disposed of in the streets and nearby fields, posing potential threat to public health and economy. The present study is to document one of the Basic Urban Service implemented in the village and focused on the establishment of a grey water treatment facility.

Socio Economic Profile
The village community is mainly farmers, owners or tenants of small pieces of land. Part of the community is construction technicians, working in different parts of Abou Tieg centre. Community members are generally poor with limited income and resources. The village is provided with regular supply of freshwater and electricity. Environmental degradation is one of the most obvious characteristic of the village. The village has no wastewater treatment facility, and wastewater is discharged mostly in the narrow streets of the village. Grey wastewater is supposed to be collected in a central collection tank built by the village council some years ago where women can dispose grey water. When visiting the village, the collection tank was seen
overflowing and wastewater seeping all over the area, emanating a very undesirable smells, and generally serving as a very unhygienic media.
Political and Administrative Structure
The village belongs to the village council of Dewain, a larger village in the vicinity. Nazlet Kaab has its own health care unit and an agricultural cooperative. The village has no mayor, but a village Shiekh who runs and

administers the relevant issues of the village. The village has a consultative council comprised of the main educated and experienced figures of the village who provide consultations and advise. A number of NGOs and community service associations are active in the area, including the village. Among these are, Fateh Islamic Society, Community Development Society, Church Service Society. However, regarding Nazleet Kaab village, the most active society is Assuit Childhood and Development Association, the main foster of the current project.
The objectives of this project
Collecting, treating and recycling used water in Assiut. Reducing environmental pollution resulted from throwing out used water in streets , keeping and preservating clean water sources and making use of used water in irrigation after being treated through simple technology.
Raise environmental awareness and finding suitable alternatives for the rural society to get ride of impure water and contribute to stop the water pollutoin locally and internationally.Arranging and organizing 6 training programs
