Biodiversity-Eduventures
The aim of the project is to empower students to take an active interest in biodiversity issues while building national scientific collections and biodiversity data. This goal is achieved by taking secondary school students on museum collecting expecditions to specific areas selected for their remoteness and biodiversity interest. The learners assist and particpate actively in collecting specimens and are exposed to the importance of biodiversity in development. The project focus on learners from schools within disadvantaged communities.
This innitiative is facilitated through the National Museum of Namibia. It directly benefits 25 to 60 local learners through participation in expeditions, excursions and other Edu-Venture activities. learners then give outreach talks on biodiversity to other youth in their communities.
