Sharing information about POPs (Development of methodical basis for lecturing programme of the country?s higher schools on POPs)
Higher educational institutions of Kazakhstan and Central Asia have now lack of methodical approach for courses on environmental problems of the region and practical tools they could be solved. There is no separate course that acquaints students and teachers with POPs problematic, while the problem significance and the current situation demands students (future experts) understanding of POPs thematic, the ways POPs appear and methods the issue could be solved.

In connection with what is said above, it is offered to hold a training seminar for teachers of high schools of Kazakhstan to acquaint them with POPs problematic, and to develop methodical basis for reading lectures at high schools by forces of the seminar participants and experts.

Within the project implementation a seminar with participation of teachers of 20 higher schools and universities will be arranged; all the seminar materials will be consolidated in a form of a manual and spread out among universities; the POPs manual will be approved by the Scientific Councils of 3 Republican Universities as additional learning materials for environmental courses.

Project Characteristics and Results
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
The project promotes students and techers of the higher schools and universities' awareness raising about POPs issues by means of seminar carring out, a methodical manual on POPs spreading out, special course on POPs introduction at the republican universities.
Capacity - Building Component
The project will strengthen NGOs' capacity in realizaion of the information campaigns, and promote real teaching mechanism on POPs. It will not only aquaint a wide audience with the problem, but allow young environment specialists get deep understanding of the problem and mechanisms it could be solved.
