Decrease of disappearance rate of endemic and Red Book plant species by creation a specialized nursery in Eastern part of Issykkul basin and stimulation of saplings planting in their former habitats through marketing policy and awareness campaign
A lot of plants included in the Red Book have not had yet developed special protection measures, not clearly defined habitats and natural stocks. In connection with it, it is necessary to execute selection-genetic inventory, to select economic-valuable forms and use them for establishment of collection and mother stock plantation and for rehabilitation of structure of degraded natural stocks. At the same time collection and mother stock plantation will serve as a protected pool for rare and disappearing species.
The main goal of the project is establishing forest nursery of Red Book plants and also main indigenous species in total 60 names for transplanting them in their habitat
During the project realization the follow outputs are expected:
Ecological
Creating of collection and mother stock plantation sharply strength opportunity to realize measures on preservation and rehabilitation of rare and disappearing species which have importance for agribiodeversity.
Economic, socio-cultural or political
The project will be realized near with Aksuu forestry?s nursery. A lot of workers of this forestry will be attracted to the project implementation. The main economic and socio-cultural change is belonging of nursery and planting saplings. Low salary (even its absence) is not interested forestry workers in working for state nursery because they not sell saplings but just to hand over them. Belonging of nursery to NGO and family association changes issue of property and attitude to raised products.
Actions to be undertaken by Public Association «Chohan»:
1.Conducting seminars and round table.
2.Fencing the planting territory.
3.Planting saplings and seeds
4.Publishing brochures and posters
5.Distribute planting lots among the local population
6.Information campaign
12 families in Karajal plot are ?Chohan? jamaat members; it is 60 men will be involved in project realization
Main activities will be undertaken in Karajal plot, Teplokluchenka Ayil Okmot, Ak-Suu rayon, Issyk-Kul oblast, Kyrgyzstan
The expected benefits of the project, including environmental and livelihood benefits
Ecological benefit:
-protection and rehabilitation of rare and disappearing species
-population awareness increasing on biodiversity preservation necessity
-replanting opportunity in previous places of vegetations without taking away saplings of rare and disappearing species from their habitat
-habitat of rare and disappearing species extend in artificial plantations (home gardens, green zone of sanatoriums)
economic benefits
- the main economic benefits is the population receives access to grown products and their profit will defined not by salary but by prices on the market on these products
- on the south of Republic privet nursery is ordinary thing but on the north the given project will be one of the first example
- it is supposed nursery will not only sell saplings but also will implement consultative and other services on planting of trees and gardens for new rest homes, sanatoriums on the Issyk-Kul lake shore
