Community Empowerment in Managing Interaction Zone of Manupeu Tanadaru National Park (MTNP)
Project development Goal:
To build cooperation process among stakeholders to save forest coverage in Manupeu Tanadaru National Park, Sumba.
Project Objectives :
1. To support Watumbelar community through KMPH Watu Uma to manage the land around MTNP and gaining support from regional government.
2. To encourage initiative of KMPH Watu Uma and Watumbelar villagers to develop natural resources sustainable development within their village.
Expected output:
1. The land managed by KMPH would protect the park from outside pressure and provide economic benefits to villagers.
2. The on-going processes have inspired surrounding villages of Manupeu Tanadaru and Laiwanggi Wanggameti National Park.
Activities to be conducted :
1. Land management
It consists of: (a) Socialization of activities; (b) Distribution of equipment; (c) Seedlings; (d) Nursery; (e) Land processing and planting
2. Community Institutional Building
Small entrepreneur activities would be developed through KMPH to provide small credit and facilitate the trading of village product.
3. Organization capacity building
The activities will conduct trainings, discussions and facilitations from Birdlife, Tanatua, and other organizations to build capacity of KMPH Watu Uma.
4. Participatory monitoring and evaluation
Monitoring activities will be carried out monthly. Evaluation meeting will be carried out quarterly.
5. Information Dissemination and Working Network of KMPH
The information will be disseminated through information board that will be built by villagers. It will contend land area sketch in progress
