The Images of Change: Capturing Lessons Learned from Community Actions in Resources Management through Community?s Eyes
Project development Goal :
To improve communities? capacity in utilizing audio visual media for policy dialogue and knowledge management at local and higher levels in promoting community-based approach for sustainable resources governance.
Project Objectives:
1. To develop GEF-SGP Indonesia?s partners? skills and capacity in documenting lessons leant from project planning through project closure.
2. To improve project documentation as part of knowledge management program for GEF-SGP Indonesia?s country programme implementation.
3. To facilitate documentation workshop and skill sharing among selected GEF-SGP partners and relevant stakeholders in community-based resources management and Indigenous Peoples? issue.
4. To facilitate the process of network building based on audio visual and community-based film among stakeholders and larger audience as part of outreaching effort for community-based knowledge management and policy dialogues.
5. To promulgate and produce visual proposal development and short films for selected sites through close collaboration with partners.
Expected Output:
1. Manual of workshops and skill sharing in film documentation with special target learners and audience (Indigenous Peoples and Civil Society Organizations)
2. 3 Visual Proposal Development
3. 2 short films on lessons learned from 2 selected sites
4. At least 5 trained partners in audio-visual documentation with basic skills level.
5. 2 six monthly progress and 3 financial reports
6. 2 workshops on film documentation in 2 selected sites
7. Showcasing activities in strategic public event (e.g. Environmental Week in June 2005)
Activities to be conducted:
1. Site Visit Trips to produce 3 Visual Development Proposals (Sites to adjust Proposal Screening Process, mainly in Sumatra, Kalimantan and Small Islands)
2. Community-Based Short Documentation Workshops in Bali and Sulawesi (to be determined)
3. Film screening in June 2005
4. Networking with other partners and stakeholders.
Expected Impact(s):
? Increasing awareness in the use of audio visual documentation in influencing changes of behavior and decision making process in community-based resources governance.
? Increase visibility of community actions in major discussions on accountability and representative issue in partnership model of grant making cycle, especially in line with biodiversity resources governance.
? Improved methodologies in mainstreaming of GEF-SGP approach in knowledge management and measures of accountability among grant making institutions and larger stakeholders.
? Contribution to variety of learning experience for civil society elements to interact and pronounce inter-dependencies for stronger network.
? Increase discussions regarding the discourse of alternative media as efforts to document actions beyond words in line of public accountability.
