New Era of Durian Luncuk II Nature Reservation Area
Project development Goal:
Increased conservation function of Durian Luncuk II Nature Reserve Area by motivating community to participate in managing the Nature Reserve Area.
Project Objectives :
1. To develop alternative income generating activities for community in order to reduce illegal logging within Nature Reserve.
2. To build community awareness on significant role of the Nature Reserve for their life.
Expected output:
1. Environmentally sound productive entrepreneur activities to increase community?s income.
2. Community?s support and genuine participation to stop illegal logging activities.
3. Establishment of communication forum among community to support conservation of Durian Luncuk Nature Reserve.
Activities to be conducted :
1. Coordination and Consultation
Disseminate information to related stakeholders, as well as conducting program activities, collecting inputs from community.
2. Community Institutional Building
Strengthening community group and its linkage with related working group consists of village, sub-village, LKMD to protect and conserve the Reserve by conducting conservation training for community. The activities will be conducted in villages surrounding the Reserve.
3. Patrol system and regular briefing
Patrol will be implemented by both government official and community around the Reserve to monitor the border area, patrol track, and forest and vulnerable areas. Briefing will be carried out in village meeting facilitations.
4. Forest monitoring
Manual of monitoring training for community will be conducted in order to enable community to carry out forest monitoring.
5. Nature reserve management
The activities will include participatory planting, maintaining plants and trees, maintaining patrol track and set up sign boards in the Reserve area. Focus area of replanting will be in ex-burned area or critical land. BKSDA will be responsible for nursery to support replanting activity. However, the community should take part of seedling activity.
6. Training and internship
The activities will include training on feasible productive income-generating activities, marketing access, marketing cooperative agreement, management of product.
7. Entrepreneur activities
The activities will start with socialization and briefing about the culture activities, training and implementation periodically.
8. Monitoring and evaluation
Monitoring and evaluation will be carried out to direct and control the activities based on objectives and goal. This activity will carry out every 6 monthly.

The project is managed by a 6-person team of Wana Wijaya Mukti led by Titin Heryatin, its Coordinator. The project will be cooperated with BKSDA?s program.
