Natural resources management and rehabilitation in Lhok Bubon, Samatiga, West Aceh
Project development Goal:
To rehabilitate community?s livelihood after the Tsunami disaster in Lhok Bubon Village
Project Objectives :
1. To increase local communities organizational capacity
2. To revitalize traditional law by reactivating traditional institutions in the village governance structure
3. To recover community?s economy
4. To develop the micro-finance system
5. To provide environment friendly boat and tools for catching fish
6. To reforest the village after tsunami
Expected output :
1. Formation of a solid community?s group in executing after disaster?s rehabilitation programs
2. Formation of a solid traditional institutions as a guide in community?s living management
3. Establishment of micro-finance institutions to enhance the growth of community?s economic
4. Establishment of environment friendly natural resources management
5. Development of small-scale enterprises
6. Establishment of village reforestation
Activities to be conducted :
A. Increasing capacity of community group?s organizational capacity:
1. Village Meeting
2. Sub district Meeting
3. District Meeting
4. Strengthening existing groups (farmers, fishermen) by giving assistance
5. Regular Meeting with the groups
B. Revitalizing traditional laws:
1. Documenting traditional law by recollecting data and information from various villages
2. Meeting with Gampong until District level to have the verification and legalization
C. Developing micro-finance system
1. Creating micro-finance institutions
2. Training for institutional management
3. Providing save and loan facility and also target market for village product
D. Developing environment friendly natural resources management:
1. Providing boats and tools for catching fish
2. Providing small boats and tools for catching
3. Providing animal husbandry and its supporting equipment
4. Training on animal husbandry management
5. Training on fishpond management
E. Developing Small Scale Enterprises
1. Providing tools for household industry, such as coconut oil and cookies production
2. Producing coconut oil on household level
3. Providing tools for furniture and craftsman industry
4. Supplying tools and capital to establish a small stores
F. Reforestation of coastal and village swamp after tsunami
1. Providing mangrove, tamarind, and casuarinas trees seeds
2. Maintaining mangrove
G. Monitoring and evaluation:
1. Monitoring
2. Evaluation
H. Report Writing
Project Participants and/or beneficiaries :
1. Lhok Bubon Village Community, (86 household)
2. Yayasan Pengembangan Kawasan (YPK)
This project is managed by a 6 members of YPK, with Teuku Irwansyah as its Director. It will guarantee woman participations, both in the management and also in implementation of field projects. Yayasan Pengembang Kawasan (YPK) and also all communities in each location are eligible to own this project together. This joint-owner system includes decision making process, project budget arrangement and its risks, data and information gathered from the project, and financial benefit from the business run by the project.
