Implementation of a Sustainable Development Extension Centre for Promoting Sustainable Livelihoods, Focusing on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Agriculture, Biodiversity and Renewable Energy, Chenderiang, Perak
Many commercial agriculture techniques and technology have contributed to BD loss and is unsustainable. With the pace of development accelerating in Orang asli areas, traditional agriculture practices with comparatively lower economic productivitty are giving way to wholesale adoption of commercial agriculture practices. However poverty allevitiaon which is the main focus of our projects cannot be successful if it comes at the expense of the environment.
The goal is to develop and implement various sustainable agriculture and renewable energy technologies for its higher economic values in a way that is also adaptive with orang Asli traditional agriculture practices that maintain BD. In addition to the technological aspect, capacity building and education fo key stakeholders is being implemented to ensure local communitiies are empowered and able to sustain efforts.
