Protection of Environment by Women Initiatives
The goal of the project was to involve the local people, especially women to protect the degrading eco-system through generating awareness about the renewable energy devices viz. biogas, smokeless chullah, and introducing the community to activities like organic compost, plantation of fuel wood, organise thrift and credit groups for the self employment opportunity to make the community self-reliant and self-sufficient.

Project Characteristics and Results
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Awareness generating programmes were organized which had a good impact on the local community on promoting and protecting the environment. Literature (local language) was developed on the protection of environment. This raised better awareness in the project areas on the farmer?s participation and women?s access to resources and taking decisions.
Capacity - Building Component
Capacity building of women and other community members were done through trainings and workshops on alternate energy devices. Awareness was also generated on the reasons to adopt such devices for environmetal safety and conservatrion of fuel wood.
