Conservation of indo-Gangetic hilsa Fish
The project emphasis was to create awareness among fisherman community for the need of Hilsa Fish and developing rational fishing norms to prevent over fishing during the breeding season.
The project also proposed to promote production of hatcheery bred prawn seedling production with a total ban on collection of seedlings from open waters, which results in considerable catch and killing of hilsa seedlings as well.
