Conservation Farming Practices in Busiro North Upland Rice System
Conservation Farming Practices in Busiro North Upland Rice System is a local community project being implemented by Busiro North Development Foundation( BNDF), a local community based organization in the area. The project seeks to stabilize upland rice-based systems for sustainable productivity thereby averting potential environmental impacts resulting from unsustainable farming practices. The project activities also aim at improving local community livelihoods through diversified income sources such as beekeeping and upland rice growing.The project operates in Wakiso district which experiences unsustainable landuse practices that threaten the land with degradation. The GEF focal area addressed is land degradation. The project partners include Wakiso district local government and NARO under the NARIC3 project. The local community is actively involved in the promotion of project activities.
