SANGWE BIODIVERSITY PROTECTION THROUGH WOODLANDS MANAGEMENT AND AFFORESTATION PROGRAMME.
The project is located about 68km from Chiredzi town.Direct beneficiaries to the project are derived from six villages in chief Gudo `s area and about 34 households are members of the group.The project is involved in management of local wood land preserving the already existing trees, afforestation activities and gully reclamation.The group engages in cultural awareness involving traditional Chokoto and Manyanga dance.An important aspect of their work is also on health which involves awareness on HIV/AIDS and offering volunteer assistance in educating local communities on hygiene and malaria prevention.

-cultural promotion through dances and participation at various cultural ceremonies held in the community.

-to properly and effectively menage and maintain existing communal woodlands, forests, and wetlands
-to rehabilitate degraded land to reduce and stabilize the local ecological system from threats of erosion and as a source of livelihood.
-to promote the use of renewable / alternative sources of energy as a mitigation against deforestation, siltation, and erosion
-to promote water harvesting as a way of improving water surface area.

-increased pride and appreciation in local environment and cultural and culture resulting in attitude change

Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
a number of projects are being implemented by the community. these include sustainable agriculture, nutritional gardening, mopane worm collection and sale , marula wine production among others . These are aimed at increasing income and improving the community`s livelihood
Gender Focus
it is expected that 65% of the committee and leaders will be youths and women . This is to ensure access and equality of opportunities and resources to both men and women is minstreamed in development and conservation.
