This project is one of nine projects being approved by the Subregional Steering Committee for improving the delivery and efficiency of the GEF SGP in Barbados the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States which include nine islands and jurisdictions.

This project will result in:

 the establishment of a National Focal Group (NFG) with representatives from Government, the private sector, academia, media, NGOs and CBOs. NGOs and CBOs will have a majority of members on the committee;

 the appointment of a National Focal Person (NFP);

 promotions of the GEF SGP in Barbados.

 training of members of the NFG;

 training of selected CBO and NGO members in project development; and

 the preparation of a Country Programme Strategy which will form part of the Subregional Programme Strategy.

The outcomes of the project will include an increase flow of funds to CBOs and NGOs to address environmental and poverty issues in order to create greater impact; the attraction of more donor partners; and the establishment of a mechanism to enhance collaboration among NGOs and CBOS.

An integral part of all these projects will be documenting all lessons learned.
