Construction of Rainwater harvesting tank for irrigation and domestic use at Himo.
The secular Institute of Women of the Holy Spirit Community is a recognized institution registered under the Auspices of the Roman Catholic Church Diocese of Moshi with its headquarters at Kilema Pofo, Himo. The Secular Women have organized women living around their home to form a group called "Women and Development Group". The objective of this group is to help the poor families improve their economy. In order to be sustainably progressive, the women have acquired a 15 acre land, which is suitable for integrated agriculture for cash crop production, poultry, dairy cattle, piggery, flower, tree nursery and stone crushing to produce aggregates for sale. The project major objective is to reduce water shortage and increase availability of clean water to the community. The project will also use a portion of the harvested water for irrigation of crops in their land in case of critical need. The project will be able to harvest water for use by 100 families. The project intends to construct 4 tanks of the capacity of 50,000 liters each.
