Conservation of Catchment areas and prevention of forest fires on the slopes around Uluguru Mountains, Morogoro
Uluguru mountains form part of the Eastern Arc Ecosystem. Uluguru mountains are considered as a water tower. They supply water which is consumed in Morogoro, Coast and Dar es Salaam regions. In addition, forest reserves on the slopes provides wood and non-wood products, store genetic information, enrich soils, regulate local climate, offer beautiful landscare and enrich mankind spiritually. This project aims at solving encroachment for agriculture and habitation, uncontrolled fires, tree felling for timber and firewood, mining and laissez faire observation of by-laws.

Notable Community Participation
Local communities will provide labour in afforestation and establishment of fuel efficient cookstoves. Local communities will also participate in conservation workshops and study visits to increase their conservation knowledge and skills.
