Project fully implemented.Coal-to-gas conversion brought to the Center savings in cost of maintenance(salaries) and extra space for better organisation of activities of center, savings in emission fines, liquidaction of pollution in the center of Nidzica;
Technical reasons (the lack of proven, secure resources of wood wastes, the lack of surface for storing biomass) forced to this solution bringing unormous savings in energy consumption, comfort and reduction of pollution .Project was covered by regional TV and national mass media because of improvements in every-day life of mentally handicaped people (mostly children, but also audults - evening trainings). Project brought to the public attention a shameful silence around mentally handicapped people in small towns and villages, before hidden problem.Modernisation of heating system -coal into gas converstion brought GEF/SGP image of environmental fund which is very open to social problems, problems of rejected people, vulnerable groups in the society.
Project was visited in May 2007 by Mr. Ivo Moravski and became a part of 4th independent global evaluation of GEF/SGP in selecetd countries.
