Conservation of the Fatuvalu Wetland Area
The Women's Committee proposes to use the existing wetland within the village for a conservation area. The aim of the women's committee is to learn about value of wetland areas and their uses. There are people in the community who would like to reclaim the area, however the women's committee has been given the task by the village council to implement a project on protecting the wetland area;
The objectives of the project as set-out by the women's committee are;
1. Learn about species living in wetland ecosystems and their uses (Fisheries Division to conduct training)
2. Find an innovative means for the wetland to provide incentive for the committee through using it as a site seeing area
3. Assess the possibility of a fish nursery within the wetland
4. Set-up the wetland as a conservation site for the village
