Developing an Eco-tourism venture within the 1000 acre of conservation native forestland of Laulii Village
The Village Council of Laulii proposed to the GEF SGP Secretariat that they would like to give 1000 acres of village forestland for establishment of a conservation area. The aim of the project is for the community to become active participants in environmental awareness and natural resource management. The community would like to run an inventory to collect data on plant species, birds, trees etc. In sustaining the project, they hope to develop small eco-tourism business within the site for nature walking, camping and native tree planting.
Objective;
Build community capacity through workshop and education awareness programme
Develop a full project proposal on the major components of the project
Develop a business plan on the management of the eco-tourism venture
