Development of ecological tourism on the basis of the local communities to conserve Korgalzhyn lakes ecosystem
Tengyz-Korgalzhyn lake system is a unique place where rare species of flora and fauna inhabit. According to the socio-ecological-economic analysis in Korgalzhyn area, only 15% of the entire population are employees of the state budgetary organizations, 10% are taxi drivers and builders, security guards in Astana. Other population are unemployed.

Being devoid of permanent source of revenue, the population is engaged in illegal fishery and hunting. Last time spontaneous inflow of tourists from Astana is observed, the most part of them are fishermen-fans. After their visiting camp-fires and dust are left, glass and plastic bottles cover the coasts of the lakes, rivers. In autumn period fires in steppe are quite frequent.

The project is directed on development of ecological tourism in the area on the basis of local communities with the purpose of preservation of the biodiversity and increase livelihood of the local communities.

Within the project it is planned to establish information support system for tourists (through creation of the coordination center, rendering marketing support; development, publication and distribution of information materials, carrying out excursions to the tour-routes), to lain the foundation for sustainable ecological tourism on the basis of local communities (training of local population in ecotourism principles, accreditation and equipment of the guest houses, teaching guides, presentation of the tourist rtacks); to develop routes and to equip ecological tracks, to stir up ecological activity of the population in the area.
