Development and Protection of Artifacts in Tagango Park in Ramokgwebana
Development and Protection of Artifacts in Tagango Park in Ramokgwebana
The Tagango area in Ramokgwebana has diverse vegetation and rock art. However, some of the community members have been de-phasing the rock art and destroying some of the artefacts. Additionally, the removal of vegetation through unsustainable harvesting has lead to soil exposure making the area susceptible to erosion and/or degradation. The result of such activities makes the range unproductive and gullies and dongas become eminent. The intention is to raise awareness and generate interest for the community members to conceptualise the park development project through dialogue and consensus.

The project aims at raising awareness and appreciation of environmental issues eminent in the area. Through a series of Kgotla meetings and a workshop the community will discuss the best options for addressing these environmental issues. In addition, this will make sure that all the stakeholders are involved in finding solutions that will mitigate against land degradation and defacing of rock art. Finally, the dialogue will lead to the formation of a legal entity that will enable the community to implement a full project.
