?Creating Alternate Fuel System through Biogas Plants in Poor Remote Areas and dissemination of Organic Farming Practices for Sustainable Agriculture and for Better Living?
Goal of the project: Following is the goal of the project.
Create influence, sensitize and adoption by the rural community regarding the importance of alternative sources of energy like biogas and sustainable agricultural practices by using Vermi/Nadep Compost through efficient use and management of manure and various available organic solid wastes in the rural areas.
Purpose of the project:
a) Improve knowledge, skill and build up the local capacity of rural community so as to make them capable of managing the dung, kitchen wastes agricultural wastes and other organic refuse sustainably and more productively to implement and operate the biogas plants for production of gas as cooling fuel and alongwith production of biogas slurry as organic manure in addition to use of Vermi/Nadep Compost for production of organic manure.
b) Prevent deforestation through demonstartion and disseminating the economic viability of such low cost rural technology which play significant role for climate change at global environment level.
c) Strengthening of capacity building programme of farmers and of specially womens for promoting the activities pertaining to agrobiodiversity conservation.
d) Reducing the over use of chemical fungicides/insecticides/banned pesticides to optimum level and to promote the use of bio agents such as trichoderma, trichocard, NPV, Neem preparation its through IPM demonstrations.
e) encouraging the organic farming through adoption of improved composting method(Nadep, Vermi and CPP) with concept of zerro chemical use.
f) Strengthen mobilization and participation of farming communities from all socio economic strata's specially the small and marginal farmers for agrobiodiversity conservation techniques.

Project Characteristics and Results
Notable Community Participation
A three-step strategy for community mobilization and project implementation will be followed to achieve the project goals. PRAs will be carried out to ensure community participation, capacities will be built through IEC activities and then biogas plants will be constructed and demonstrations carried out. Village level volunteers will be trained in construction and maintenance of the biogas plants to ensure sustainability of the activities beyond the project implementation period. Eventually, Self Help Groups will be formed and strengthened in the villages to initiate and sustain the biogas plants and the livelihood activities.
Capacity - Building Component
Community level Self Help Groups will be formed and strengthened. The groups will be trained in managing the bio-gas plants, alternate income generation activities like vermi-composting. Drawings will be made to explain the technical details of biogas plants and support services covering the use, operation and maintenance of assets will be established at the local village level.
