44 SHGs will be formed in 14 villages of the Mathura block to operate a plastic loom that will use the segregated plastic. The plastic loom will be owned and maintained by the Society and the money earned will be used to pay remunerations to the women working on the loom. Women will also be trained to make jute bags that will be marketed as an alternative to plastic bags. Rag pickers will also be organized, trained and equipped with proper safety gears and tools for waste collection. Organizing the rag pickers will increase their bargaining power in terms of regularizing wages and hiring terms.
