Community based ecotourism project in Bazaruto Island
Community based ecotourism project in Bazaruto Island
Based on Bazaruto Island, within the Bazaruto Archipelago National Park, in Inhambane province, the project aims to address the lack of community benefits related to development of tourism activities, and engage them in the management of natural resources. The project will strengthen Thomba Yedho?s capacity to conserve, and protect the environment, and diversify livelihood support activities. The project will train community members in various skills, and tourism activities, erect an environmental, and cultural information center, and establish walk trials along strategic points of the island.

Sailway, Lda is a tour operator based on the adjacent island mainland, in Vilankulo village, and it will partner with Thomba Yedho, by bringing tourists by dhows and sailboats to the community island center. This partnership will be extended with the involvement of the national park authorities in addressing their management plan issues.
