Wood waste heating system in the Eco-school of living in Wandzin
Eco School of Life in Wandzin is the community of 80-100 people, during Winter extra 10-30 homeless people, who live on 10 ha of land in one piece in the forest - land of previous Prussian owner with monument of history - hunter's manor and remaining some destroyed during the II WAR inventory buildings. They managed heat pump for the manor and original request to GEF/SGP was for another heat pump for the main dormitory, hospital and dining/meeting room. GEF/SGP organised mini-grant supported by UMBRELLA /UNDP and AIDS Proejct UNDP for energy audit which proved that in this location ( forest, work for the Forest Inspectorate paid with wood and wood waste) heat pump is not the most effecive and efficient solution.2 boilers 60KW and 80KW replaced old fashioned coal fired 400 KW boiler received as gift from the Bank in Czluchow. 400KW boiler was operational 1 year, of very poor quality, too big capacity and too expensive to maintain .
60KW new boiler will cover demand for hot water during whole year, 80KW will provide heat during cold season (mid-September - end of April).Surpluses of hot water could be used in green-house providing vegetables for community members.
