?PROMOTING ECO-TOURISM IN A PILOT SITE (SHIBDERAZ VILLAGE) IN QESHM ISLAND?; identifying the village attractions for tourism, developing a tourism management plan and establishing a local community institute. The project is about management and planning of ecotourism in a pilot site (Shibderaz Village) on Qeshm Island, which will be implemented in two phases. Project activities and outputs in Phase one will include the following:
? Identifying attractions of Qeshm Island for ecotourism
? Identifying criteria and standards for planning and management of sustainable tourism at the pilot site to minimize negative impacts of tourism
? Promoting community-based tourism on Qeshm Island while preparing a participatory management plan for the pilot site
? Capacity building and training for locals and authorities involved on developing ecotourism in Qeshm Island (with emphasis on local community at the pilot site)
? Impact Assessment of ecotourism at the site
? Zoning of the site for ecotourism
? Determining carrying capacity of the site
? Developing advocacy and publicity materials such as film (30min), brochure (bilingual) and handicrafts
Phase two will include the following
? Organizing a sustainable tourism management plan
? Execution of sustainable tourism management plan with the participation of locals who have been trained
