Mara River Conservation Project
Agricultural production system along Mara River Basin, just like in most other parts of the country have been under severe stress due to high land degradation rates contributed by high human and animal population pressure on available natural resources.
The project aims at conserving the cultivated and grazing land along Mara River Basin, increase agricultural and livestock production from small-scale farmers along the Mara River Basin. It will also intensify agroforesty and multipurpose tree planting along the Mara River.
The project will also create greater awareness through education and training of extension workers, farmers, farmer motivators and the gold minors and the general public on dangers associated with the ongoing environmental degradation along Mara River Basins.
