The project main objective is to impart adoptability of the appropriate land management practices on environmental conservation initiatives along wetlands and other water sources. The project will cover ten villages in Mubela and Bukoba districts where wetlands and the Ngono river will be targeted. The project will introduce and promote upland rice farming to check poverty and food security. It will also restore and rehabilitate degraded wetlands, introduce afforestation programs, conserve water sources and improve aquantic life. Currently, the project main focus area is threatened by a number of factors including, intensive overexploitation of forest resources, land degradation, inappropriate farming methods, farming along the river banks and the uncontrolled bush fires.
