The project will support sustainable community-based activities in Peam Krosaup wildlife sanctuary. The activities will involve planting magrove tree on 40 ha of degraded land and protecting the remaining mangrove trees under the 3 communities management areas. The project will also address the conservation and sustainable use of natural resources mainly fisheries and mangrove resources in areas under increasing human pressure by organizing women saving & self-help groups to create community-based alternatives livelihoods.

2. Objectives:
- Increase mangrove forest cover for biodiversity conservation and prevention of natural disasters
- Stop illegal fishing especially pushing boats which can cause serious damaging to sea grass
- Increase the livelihood of community members especially the poor families and female headed households
- Encourage participation in protection and conservation of mangorves and sea grass in the target area
- This project will become a model project for participatory natural resources conservation

- Planting mangrove trees over 35 ha of degraded land and protection and conservation of existing mangrove trees
- 20 ha of sea grass in Chhork Koh Kong will be protected and conserved.
- Insured that ecological systems project target areas will be sustainably management and used
- Increase of fish catch from mangrove and sea grassprotected areas by 20% to 40% from previous numbers
- Food security for fishermen of at least 75% during rainy season, especially poor fishers with access to mangorve areas

- Up to 95% of poor fishers and WHH will receive direct benefit from participation in protection and conservation of mangrove and sea grass
- Around 500 families will receive direct benefits from participating in planting mangrove trees

They will actively participate in the dissemination of the importance and conservation of the sea grass and mangrove resources to people outside the target communities. The communities' members will take part in the project monitoring and evaluation.
Capacity - Building Component
Capacity building on coastal natural resources conservation and its sutainable use is mostly carried out through learning by doing. The project plans to provide 3 technical trainings to community committee members, conduct in-country study tour for women saving group and community committee members to learn from other women groups, provide 6 training and dissemination courses for all members inside project target areas, and provide 5 training courses to communities outside target areas for raising their awareness of community protected areas.
