TO ESTABLISH A WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA (WMA) AND PRESERVE NATIVE FORESTS TO PROMOTE BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION IN ONKI VILLAGE
The proponent assisted the CBO to design and develop the project. The project involves the establishment of a WMA. The WMA, described in the submission addresses the reforestation of grassland areas. The project further includes costs to build bungalows for tourists to visit the WMA.

The proponent used its own funds to develop the proposal and will remit the expenses, once the planning grant, signed on 22/02/06 is processed and awarded.

The community constructed a feeder road to their village from the main highway, build guest houses for researchers and tourists and organise their activities to promote their environment, culture and tradition and encourage selling of arts and crafts to the visitors.

The proponent in collaboration with the CBO submitted the proposal for the Onki village WMA project for full scale funding to the NSC for further screening.
