Contributing to the conservation of agro-biodiversity in Mawassi Rafah through upgrading 35 greenhouses
Contributing to the conservation of agro-biodiversity in Mawassi Rafah through upgrading 35 greenhouses
The project will contribute to braking the vicious cycle of the sever deterioration of the farmers economic situation due to the five years closure of AlMawassi area by the occupation, that eventually rendered up-grading the damaged greenhouses impossible, which led for the excessive use of chemical pesticides as the only solution to control the deterioration of the greenhouse agro-environment. Thus, this has its threatening effect on soil fertility as well as the trans-boundary effect of the shared aquifer with Egypt since the project is located close to the Palestinian Egyptian boarders. Therefore, the project will upgrade around 35 greenhouses in Mawassi Rafah and that would pay back its value for around 600 families who will directly or indirectly benefit from the project either through creating permanent and temporary jobs, increasing farmer?s income, enhancing safety mitigation of the product as well as the agricultural process. Throughout the project, two training workshops will be provided and one guiding brochure will be distributed to farmers on regular upgrading of the greenhouses.
