Livelihood restoration of selected tsunami affected community mainly women in Dickwella, Matara District by Community Development Centre, Aranayake
The project mainly concentrates on re-building lives and livelihoods of the people living in the Dikwella area including the 5 divisions of Eastern Batheegama, Southern Dikwella, Southern Waththegama, Eastern Dikwella and Eastern Dodampahala.
In order to reach the above objective, activities such as, motivating housewives to manage their households and garden areas efficiently, thus, involving them in environmental conservation, re-building and enhancing the capacity of organization of the society, uplifting and enriching the health of 200 families, focussing mainly on women, building an eco-friendly attitude amongst the society and by doing so,assisting in conserving the environment.

Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Since the Tsunami affected the entire surrounding of this community, they understand the value of environmental conservation and the side effects of the degradation of the environment. Therefore, through involving the residents of this community in various environmental conservation activities such as, recycling and reusing home wastage, usage of anti soil erosion methods, efficient land management, cleaning the area daily, etc , eventually the knowledge of Global Environment and Conservation is observed by the paticipants.
