The development of the Nemunas Bicycle Route in Sakiai District. Phase II
The project addresses the problem of climate change by promoting of ecological transport. It tackles the problem of public tourism infrastructure in the Sakiai district.

The project aims to promote bicycle and ecological tourism in the district by constructing bicycle rout infrastructure, a technical documentation of which was prepared during the first phase of the project. The project also intends to stimulate local people to start alternative ways of business.

For implementation of main project tasks 3.08 km of the bicycle route Ilguva-Pae?erëliai will be constructed and the surroundings along the both sides of the route (about 26 ha) will be managed. A particular attention will be devoted for installment and equipment of the bycicle routs infrastructure ? construction of information boards and signs, resting places, campings and other infrastructure units. Local community will be trained on ecological tourism and alternative business possibilities during seminars/workshops. To make the rout more attractive for the tourism new places of interest for tourists will be indicated; traditional crafts network will be developed by the route. Leaflets and flyers will be produced as well. For better project publicity a conference as well as seven-day bicycle trip ?Goldap-Krasnoznamensk-Pae?erëliai? will be organized. Trip booklet will be published seeking to share the good experience in the bicycle tourism field.
