Introducing renovated traditional irrigation devices replacing the diesel pumps in Batken oblast.
The territory of Leylek region is one of the dryest regions in the Southern Kyrgyzstan and due to that most of the agricultural land is irrigated artificially from Aksuu and Hodjabakyrgan rivers. The old system is used to irrigate this territory which is diesel pumps that use up to 100 liters of diesel fuel. The disscharged fuel is oftentimes poured back to the river. This has significantly damaged the condition of the river. And the antropogenic pressure has been great. This area needs completely new system of irrigation, which is a hydraulic ram and renovated traditional irrigation equipment. Other than introduction of the hydraulic ram and the renovated irrigation equipmet the NGO is also planning to conduct the ecological comparative effectivness analysis and effectiveness analysis of the equipment. The instalation process is next in line. The project is going to be supported by information campaing about the new innovative irrigation method and about the environment conservation overall.
