Introducing alternative methods of battling with predatory animals that does not decrease their critical population by encouraging the traditional form of hunting using Kyrgyz greyhound dogs Taygan.
The goal of this project is to increase the amount of Taygans the Kyrgyz greyhound dogs to preserve the wildlife from destruction. The wolfs and jackals are killing the animals from birds to the livestock of local farmers and there is no way to fight this destructive force. The regular way to fight the wolfs is the seasonal hunting activities but there is a time dissadvantage. The ecological way to fight the wolfs is to hunt with the Taygans. This type of greyhound dogs is able to fight with the wolf and is not scared of it. But this type is under danger of dissapearance due to several reasons. The project is inteded to preserve this type of greyhound dog because it is one of the identities of the Kyrgyz people.
The project staff has outlined several ways to achive this goal. First the nurseries where people who know the distinct features of this type have to breed it. Second various materials about Taygans have to be published. The association of Taygan hunters will be organized, the national costumes for the hunting will be provided, video material will be produced. Also the bow and arrow factory will be organized to preserve the traditions and cultural values of Kyrgyz people which in its turn will help to conserve the environment of this area. The course of the project will be supported by information campaign.
