Conservation of wet lands in Issyk-Kul biosphere zone on the area near Ornok village by transforming the natural beach into supervised recreation zone, and organizing green patrol.
The Issyk Kul region is the most important tourist region in the country that is why the preservation of natural beauty of the lake is esspecialy important. However, due to the fact that there are many tourists and also people who are poaching in this area the region is subjected to land degradation. The local population cuts the sea-buckthorn bushes for energy supply. The ecological balance of the region is greatly damaged not only by this factors but also by irrational grazing. There is a great danger for the ecology of the Ornok region because of the exhaust. The resort area is not well-equipped and there have been facts of basic beach rule violations. Cars are driving right to the beach and the exhaust is harming the lake. This all has its negative impact to the biodiversity. For example, the sea-buckthorn is an important plant but the cutting down can lead to the dissapearance of this type. The NGO "Jylgyn" is aiming to preserve this territory. The action that they have outlines include the plantation of saplings of fastgrowing types of trees, rehabilitation works around the territory, organization of green patrol. Inventarization of the environment will help to sustainbaly preserve the nature and the resort area. To provide alternative activities for the local population the sea-buckthorn processing factory is going to start operating. The local population is going to be informed about the impact of irresponsible treatment to the environment of the region and about the project challenges and goals. Also the information campaign during the course of the project is going to help to increase awareness about the ecological benefits of the project. The area of the beach is going to be clearly outlined and the pastures are going to be prohibited by local state law.
