DOCUMENTATION AND MEDIA PRODUCTION FOR GEFSGP PROJECTS IN ZIMBABWE
BACKGROUND
Zimbabwe has a rich natural resource base and is strongly dependent on environmental products for economic survival of communities. Efforts to preserve and manage the integrity of the environment must hence be sustained through capacity building and awareness raising in communities , governments and all stakeholders. this is supported by information exchange and sharing of experiences in an effort to increase visiblity on UNDP GEF/SGP proJects and to equip society and stakeholders with knowledge to facilitate the process of change, and engedered local particiaption, to stregthen environmental projects sustainably.
the project will document through media productions (print and electronic) for the projects funded by the GEFSGP in Zimbabwe. the project is intended to produce a series of 4 television documentaries, 45 radio documentaries, 1 website, 4 posters, 1 pamphlet, 1 brochure, 1 teeshirt, 1 badge and 1 cap designed as promotion materials in an effort to increase visibility on GEFSGP projects.
the project aims to show how efforts directed towards the focal areas e.g biodiversity are influenced by local conditions and survival coping strategies.it is also important to draw lessons learnt pointing to future ways to deliver in the program.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
- conduct a project scoping desk study to provide projects information and details based on the projects on the ground, locality and focal area identified.
-conduct a library and archive information study to gather information on the historical background on the project areas and commonly reported and documented phenomena related to the project theme and objectives.
- conduct a field study and review of project proposal framework.
- assessment of project benefits and impact locally, nationally, regionally and internationally.
-process information collected to produce final document through media productions.
EXPECTED RESULTS
-the expected outputs of this assignment will include documentation and media production s on television and radio documentaries, website , posters, pamphlets, brochures, t-shirts and badges for GEFSGP funded projects in Zimbabwe
