Awe Kecil is located in Simelue right at the epicentrum of the earth plate movement that caused tsunami and earthquake. Death toll was not high but the tsunami devastated housings, agriculture fields and livelihoods. Few donor operates in this region. The South-South Grants Facility provides opportunities for assistance to purchase sewing machines; to access working capital for women cottage industries and handicrafts; development of microfinancing institution; to conduct marketing and packaging training; establish marketing linkages; and provides working capital and equipment for haircut and salon for women wellness (exclusively under the Moslem Syariah Law).
