Rhus Forest
Rhus Forest
The NGO cooperated with a local cement industry in the area and established a Rhus Forest on al old quarry site. Rhus trees used to grow in the area in the past and diminished as a result of mining and industrial operations. The NGO believed that the project would help restore an element of biodiversity in the area, promote local action to improve performance of a local industry towards land management and pollution prevention. The achievements of this project included planting a shelterbelt around the Cement Factory, which helps to reduce the effects of pollution caused by this industry. The factory had also improved its environmental mangement practices.
