Program planning to strengthen community initiatives in protecting conservation area of Kerinci Seblat National Park while increasing agro forestry-based economical condition
Project Development Goal:
Planning program to strengthen community initiatives in protecting conservation area and to support community activities with positive impact towards increasing economical condition
Project Objectives:
a. Planning activities to legitimate Village Conservation Agreement into Peraturan Nagari (Traditional based Regulation) in West Sumatera and Jambi
b. Making list of basic economic-based community activities with commitment to conserve Kerinci Seblat National Park with its Agro-forestry plants by using Tumpang Sari plantation method (co-occupation for a limited period, and the co-occupants are agricultural crops in the forest area)
c. Increasing community independency to review, to evaluate, and to establish their own activities planning
d. Making list of activities to reduce CO emission by reducing the use of firewood and using energy-efficient stoves among the communities
Expected output:
a. Strategy to include Village Conservation Agreement into Peraturan Nagari (Traditional based Regulation) in West Sumatera and Jambi
b. Planting pattern of agro forestry plants and secondary plants seeds for community?s area
c. Program plan for working group and community to implement regular Participatory Self Review and Planning in order to monitor progress activities and to adjust program planning
d. Baseline data of firewood user and strategy to reduce the use of firewood
e. Program plan to build water system (talang air) infrastructures for community?s new rice fields
Activities to be conducted:
a. Reviewing and composing working plan by holding workshop in community level;
b. Supporting the establishment of community group;
c. Organizing plan for training on agro forestry and secondary plants;
d. Organizing regular PRSP in community level;
e. Organizing plan for training on energy efficient stoves;
f. Survey to select location to build water system for community;
g. Organizing plan to implement the establishment of water system;
Project Participants and/or beneficiaries:
2 villages, each consist of 80 households
