The GEF SGP is launching the summary version of the Annual Monitoring Report for the reporting period 2019-2020. This report provides an overview on the concrete results achieved on global environmental and socio-economic benefits during the past reporting year. It also provides brief information on the financial status at the global and country levels. A short infographic version of the report is available HERE.
During the reporting period, a total of 986 new projects were approved for grant funding representing a total amount of USD 31.28 million in both GEF and non-GEF funding. The report also presents results under the GEF Focal Areas of biodiversity, climate change, sustainable land management, international waters, chemicals and waste and SGP’s grant-maker plus strategies.
The Small Grants Programme (SGP) is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The SGP empowers local civil-society and community-based organizations (CSOs and CBOs), including women, indigenous peoples, youth, and persons with disabilities, to design and lead actions that address global environmental issues. The programme implements effective and efficient projects that aim to achieve global environmental benefits while improving livelihoods and reducing poverty, as well as promoting social inclusion, gender equality and empowerment of women.
